In Maryland the beach is public below the average mean high tide line. Generally, that means below the shell-line. That being said, the beaches in the area are used by everyone in the community. I wouldn’t park myself right in front of someone else’s house, but there are large areas that are part of the refuge and people walk on the beaches and the road, especially in the mornings and evenings.
Some popular excursions can be seen in the map.
- Wetland Circuit (red)
This one is great in that you don’t have to go back and forth – it is a complete circuit and can be done in either direction. Can get hot in the middle of the day in the summer, so probably best done in the morning if it is a hot day. Will take you across the sunset beach, through our neighboring community, through the wetland, and then up the tree shaded road in our community. - Sunset Beach (pink)
Takes you to the beautiful crescent beach around the corner. - Lake Conoy Inlet (orange)
If you like to walk on the beach and in the sand, this one is great. It ends at the inlet to Lake Conoy and you can look across to Point Lookout state park – water activity in and out of the inlet on boating days.
