Museums, Winery, Pool and Tours

Boat and watercraft rentals
Multiple places offer boat rentals. Including Spring Cove for boats and pontoon boats and SOMD Water Sports for jet-skis.

Calvert Marine Museum and Drum Point Lighthouse
Learn about the cliffs and fossils that make the area unique. Also, a small aquarium and otters. Great for small kids and adults alike on a rainy day. They usually have a sandbox where the children can find real fossil shark teeth.

Boat Tours from the Calvert Marine Museum
The Calvert Marine Museum is also a great place to book an affordable bay-trip on a historic ship. Multiple types of tours available giving history of the area and the fisheries.

Patuxent River Naval Air Museum
Great small museum telling the history of the Patuxent River Airbase and the testing going on there still.

Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center
Inside and outside art exhibits and events.

Cove Point Pool
Small outdoor waterpark and pool 15 minutes from the home. Open seasonally – check the website from dates and hours. If it is hot and jellyfish in the water, then this is the place to go.

Running Hare Vineyard
Running Hare Vineyard offers a tasting room and great ambience. Beyond wine, Running Hare Vineyard also features live music events and an inviting Biergarten, where you can enjoy local craft beers in a relaxed, scenic setting. Their events include line dancing, concerts, workshops, goat yoga(!) and so on. All listed at their website. It is located about 25 minutes from the home.

Smith Island Tour
The Smith Island Tour departs from Point Lookout at 10am Thursday to Sunday during the season. Check the website to schedule. The boat ride is long, and the island has seen better days. For children it is likely too much. For adults it may be interesting though – you can rent golfcarts and drive around the small communities, and there are small stores and a small bakery. See this website and this one to determine if the trip is worth it to you. End the day with a great meal at Pier450.
